Last week we wrapped up our American symbols and government unit. We finished out the unit by learning about the United States Constitution. We learned about the preamble as well as the three branches of government. We also completed our end of unit project. For this project your child selected the American symbol they feel is the most important and justified their choice with supporting reasons.
Tomorrow your child will come home with their very first book report as part of our next unit on the Washo Indians. Each student will been assigned a Native American legend to read and report on. Each child's assigned legend is as close to their reading level as possible, however, legends can be tricky to comprehend so please plan to assist them with the process as needed. They will have two weeks to complete this project. They will have a reduced homework load for the next two weeks to allow them time to work on their report. All reports should be completed and brought to school by next Monday, November 22nd. If your child will not be at school the week of Thanksgiving please plan to have them ready to present their report by Friday November 19th. If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to ask.
Finally, the annual holiday breakfast is quickly approaching on Saturday, December 4th. This is the biggest PTO fundraiser of the year. To help with this fundraiser each class is assigned the task of assembling a gift basket that will be auctioned off as part of this event. Our class's basket theme this year is fishing. To make our basket a success we need your help! We will be collecting fishing themed donations to put inside our basket such as fishing lures, bait, fishing line, a tackle box, fishing poles, or any other fishing gear you can think of. Gift cards to Mountain Hardware or Cabela's would be great too. Please send in what you can by Friday, November 19th so that we have time to put everything together before the big day. Thank you in advance for your help with this endeavor.
Have a great week!
