Our annual downtown tree decorating was a success! Thank you to all of you who made it out to the festivities so that your child could hang their ornament on our tree; it turned out great!
I am so excited to announce that our first field trip of the year has been scheduled and is just a few weeks away! To enhance our study of the Washoe Indian Tribe we will be visiting the Gatekeeper's Museum in Tahoe City on Thursday, December 19th. Your child should have come home with a permission slip for this trip in their Friday folder. Field trips are a big part of our 3rd grade curriculum and we are so excited to be able to provide the students with these hands on experiences once again. For this trip we will be taking a bus as we do not have enough parent volunteers cleared to work with students yet. If you would like to join us please see the bottom of the permission slip and check the appropriate box.
Although we will only be at school for two days this week we will be extra busy presenting our legends book reports for the next two days. Your child should bring their written report along with the project they created to accompany their presentation tomorrow, Monday, November 22nd. This is an important part of your child's grade so please make sure your child completes their report. We went over all of the expectations in class and looked at a sample project so they should know what is expected during their presentation. They should be well rehearsed so that they can make eye contact with the audience and demonstrate full knowledge of their legend. Please let me know if you have any questions.
.
Finally, due to the Thanksgiving holiday, your child will not have any homework this week. Please enjoy spending time with your loved ones and reflecting on what you have to be thankful for. I know I am so thankful to get to spend each and every day with your wonderful children as well as the kind support I have received from all of you. Thank you for being great parents and raising such great kiddos!
Happy Thanksgiving!
