We also took our first digital spelling test on Friday using Google Forms. The test was still administered the same way as always but instead of recording our words with paper and pencil we typed them into a google form. The students really seemed to enjoy taking their spelling test this way. It also saved me time in grading their test and provided the students with instant feedback on how they did which was great. Ask your child how they did!
This week we will be practicing another ALICE drill. We continue to focus on the E in ALICE which stands for evacuate. Last week we calmly walked to a rally point and this week we will practice running in a zig zag to a designated rally point. We are practicing going to different rally points at this time so that the students understand that the rally point may change in a real emergency. Again the most important thing for them to learn from these drills is to Stop, Look, and Listen to their teacher in an emergency situation. The students handled our first drill very well but please remember to check in with your child to answer any questions they may have as we learn this new protocol.
Finally, we will be going on our field trip to the Discovery Museum this Thursday. Thank you to all of you who have volunteered to drive. I really appreciate your willingness to help. We will be leaving school right after we take attendance and will be returning to school at 2:00. Please make sure your child comes to school with a cold lunch from home as we won't be back in time for hot lunch from the cafeteria. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great week!
