This Tuesday evening is Back to School NIght. This is an important evening where I will go over everything you need to know about 3rd grade. To keep the number of people in the room down we ask that only one representative from your household attend Back to School Night will begin at 5:30 in my classroom (M29), I look forward to see you there.
I am excited to announce that this week will also mark the return of our annual Eagle Walk fundraiser. This is an important event as it is our only fundraiser that goes directly to our classroom. These funds are very important in helping pay for our many field trips as well as other necessary supplies for our classroom. This year's Eagle Walk will be held this Friday, October 1st. Due to Covid mitigations this years event will look a bit different than past events. This year the grade levels will be split up into 2 groups in order to allow more space between runners/walkers. Third graders will be running or walking from 10:20-11:50 along with the 4th and 5th graders. Another thing that will be different this year is that volunteers are unfortunately not allowed to walk laps with the students. Don't worry though, there are still many ways you can participate in this event. We need someone who can help set up our table before the event as well as volunteers to help tally student laps and encourage and monitor snack intake during the event. We will also need healthy prepackaged snacks to help the students refuel between laps as well as help cleaning up once the walk is over. If you are able to help in anyway please send me a quick e-mail or Dojo message to let me know how you can help. If you plan to send in a snack please let me know what you will be sending so that I can keep track of what we have. Finally, if anyone has a wagon they can send in to help transport snacks and supplies out to the field that would be great!
Finally, your child will begin having math homework this week in addition to the weekly reading log. They will not have math homework nightly. They will only have it on the days listed, typically Mondays and Wednesdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be saved for spelling homework which we will begin in a couple weeks. The math homework that comes home will be a review of concepts we have already practiced in class and should hopefully be work your child can complete independently. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great week!
