We have been plugging away at our Truckee History unit. Our goal is to describe how events from Truckee's past are related and helped shape the town we live in today. We have learned about the Native Americans that lived in our area long ago as well as the trappers and emigrants that came to our area. Ask your child if they recall what an emigrant is and let me know if they are successful so that I can recognize them for their active listening. We have also learned about what life on the trail was like for the pioneers that headed west.
State Testing is quickly approaching. We will begin our state testing next week and will be testing multiple days each week for two weeks. To help your child do their best please help them to get a good night's rest and a big healthy breakfast on the days we are testing. To see the exact dates we will be testing please see our classroom calendar found on the parents page or the important reminders below. We started prepping for our state testing last week by practicing using the digital tools as well as working through sample test questions together. We have also been discussing the importance of these assessments but that these tests are nothing for them to worry about. I have told the kids that just like all of the other tests we take throughout the year and that this test is just to help give us information about how our school is doing and how we can be better.
Finally, If you have not yet completed and returned your child's permission slips for our June 9th and June 17th field trips please do so as soon as possible so I can ensure we have enough drivers to make these trips possible. I am happy to report we are very close to having enough seatbelts for both trips!
Have a great week!
