We have been plugging away at our Adaptations unit. Last week week we researched the ways animals gather and store food for survival. As part of our unit we have been reading the book "The Wild Robot" by Peter Brown. Just like our previous read alouds this book is helping us expand our vocabularies. Last week our book helped us learn the word demeanor. Your child should be able to tell you that demeanor means behavior towards others. Please let me know if they are successfully able to do this so that I can recognize them in class for their active listening.
Thank you to those of you who have already completed the volunteer/driver clearance process. I know it's not as easy as it used to be and so appreciate your willingness to help. While we have gotten several parents cleared in the last few weeks we still need more as we have 25 students to transport in our class. If you have not yet had a chance to complete the volunteer clearance process please do so as soon as possible. Here is a link to the district website where you can find more information on how to start the process. As soon as we have the dates locked in for our spring field trips I will let you know.
Finally, Your child should have come home with their first report card of the year on Friday. I hope by now you have had a chance to view your child's report. As I explained last week 2s and 2.5s along with some 1s are completely normal at this time of year. We are now grading your child based off of the end of year expectations instead of where they should be at this point in the year. This first report is intended to help you see how they are progressing towards those end of year goals. It is not expected for your child to have mastered or met all of the third grade content by only March. Please let me know if you have any questions about your child's progress.
I hope you all have a great week!
