We had some April Fools Day fun on Friday (or at least I did). The students took a fake spelling assessment with the following challenging words:
Aardwolf
Parallelogram
Ramiferous
Inconspicuous
Lichen
Fabaceous
Octagon
Obstreperous
Lynx
Structural
Hebenon
Adaptation
If you look at the first letter of every word it spells April Fools Ha! During the test they kept saying "why are these words so hard?" They all had quite a laugh once they had discovered they had been tricked.
We are nearing the end of our Adaptations unit and will begin working on our final project after break. The students will be selecting an animal that they believe has the best adaptations for survival. They will be writing on opinion piece to justify their choice and building a diorama showing how their animal has adapted to its environment. The students will then be giving an oral presentation to the class about their selected animal. To help us with this project we are in need of shoeboxes. If you have any shoeboxes at home we would love to take them off of your hands as we will need one shoe box for every student. Thank you in advance for your help with this endeavor.
Finally, I'm excited to announce that we have booked another field trip. On Thursday, June 9th we will be going to the Donner Memorial State Park Museum. If you are cleared to drive please mark your calendar and confirm through Dojo or email that you will be available to help chaperone this trip. We will need all approved drivers in order to make this trip happen. If you have not yet had a chance to complete the volunteer clearance process please do so as soon as possible. We are still in need of more drivers in order to transport all 25 students. Here is a link to the district website where you can find more information on how to start the process. We are working on scheduling other trips as well. As soon as we have the dates locked in for our these field trips I will let you know.
Have a great week!
