State Testing is quickly approaching. We will begin our state testing next week and will be testing multiple days each week for the next few weeks. To help your child do their best please help them to get a good nights rest and a big healthy breakfast on the days we are testing. To see the exact dates we will be testing please see our classroom calendar found on the parents page. We have been prepping for our state testing by practicing using the digital tools as well as working through sample test questions together. We have also been discussing the importance of these assessments but that these tests are nothing for them to worry about. I have told the kids that just like all of the other tests we take throughout the year this test is just to help give us information about how our school is doing and how we can be better.
Our next field trip is next week to the Community Arts Center to watch several of our fellow third grade students in the production of The Secret Garden. A permission slip will be coming home with your child's homework tomorrow. Please be on the lookout for it and return it to school with your child ASAP so that I can ensure their are enough driver to make this trip possible.
We had another successful ALICE drill last week that continued our focus on how to safely evacuate in a dangerous situation. We practiced running in a zig zag to a designated rally point or meeting spot. The students did a wonderful job taking this drill seriously and not being silly as they ran. This week we will practice what to do in the event we can't evacuate and have to go into a lockdown. Again, please make sure to check in with your child as we learn this new safety protocol to help ease any worries they may have.
Finally, this Wednesday is a minimum day. All students will be released from school at 12:50. Please make sure your child knows where they will be going after school on Wednesday.
