In our short week we were able to get started on our new unit which will be all about plant and animal adaptations. We had time to observe pictures of plants and animals adapting to their environments and discussed what we think or wonder about them. We also got started on defining what an adaptation is. The students made predictions about what they thought that word might mean and then did some research to help them determine the meaning. We will finalize our definition when we return to school tomorrow and will even be using google draw to illustrate the word to match the definition. I'm hoping to have the students share their google drawings with you through ClassDojo later this week, so be on the lookout for that.
In Art this week we will be continuing a painting project that we started last week with our Art teacher Ms. Janet. The next phase of this project requires the use of acrylic paints. Please send in an old t-shirt for your child to wear over their clothing by Wednesday as acrylic paints do not wash out.
Your child should have come home with a permission slip for our next field trip to the Science Expo next Tuesday, March 13th. Please return this form as soon as possible so that I can ensure we have enough drivers to transport all students. Also, They are in need of parent volunteers to help with some of the science stations we will be visiting at the Science Expo. We are hoping to find a couple of parents from each class who would be willing to do this. Please let me know if you are able to help out.
And Finally, since there was no school on Friday please have your child return their homework folder to school tomorrow so that their completed homework packet can be switched out for this week's new packet.
Have a great week!
