We spent last week finalizing the meaning of an adaptation. An adaptation is a feature or behavior that helps a plant or animal survive such as thorns on a cactus. The students worked hard to decorate the word adaptation in order to show it's definition in a google drawing. They are still finalizing their drawings and will be sharing them with you through Class Dojo as soon as they finish. For now see if you child can tell you what an adaptation is and let me know if they are successful so that I can recognize them for the active listening.
We also spent some time last week distinguishing the difference between a fact and an opinion. Your child should be able to tell you that a fact is something that can be proven true and an opinion is something that somebody thinks or feels. This week we will be learning how to express our opinions in writing using several reasons and examples to support them.
This week, we have a busy week ahead of us. On Tuesday we will be going to the Science Expo at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village. Thank you to all of our amazing parent volunteers for signing up to drive and chaperone this trip. We have more than enough seats so please let me know If you signed up to drive but have had a change in your schedule and are no longer available. We are watching the weather closely and will let you know as soon as possible if there are any changes with our trip. Also, don't forget that Wednesday is an Early Release Day. All students will be released at 12:50. Please make sure to discuss your child's after school plans with them so they know where they are going.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
