We will spend our first week back revisiting our classroom expectations and setting goals for ourselves for the new year. We will also be doing a quick study of an important American Hero, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We will be learning about his life and legacy and the important role he played in American history so that the students understand why we will take a day off to honor him next week. We will conclude our week by writing about our own hopes and dreams for the world.
This Friday, January 12th, is our Arts for the Schools field trip. We will be going to Truckee High to see a performance by The Urban Jazz Dance Company. We are currently short a couple of drivers for this trip, if you are able to help out please let me know as soon as possible. It is only a half day field trip so we will be back by lunch if you can spare your morning.
This week we will also be starting our Walk to Learn rotations with the other 3rd grade classes. This will be a short 20 minute block in the afternoon where all students across the grade level will rotate to different classrooms based on their different reading needs. Previously only a handful of students were rotating to different classes to receive this extra reading support but starting tomorrow all students will be participating. As a grade level we are very excited to be able to offer this extra support to all of our students and hope it helps us better meet the needs of our diverse learners across the grade level. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I hope you have a wonderful week!
