We spent our last week before the break wrapping up our winter unit. We finished our Novel Study on Disaster Strikes: Blizzard Night. Your child should be able to summarize the beginning, middle, and end of the book for you. If they are able to do this please let me know so that I can recognize them for being an active listener in class. As part of our unit we also learned what we should do to stay safe in the winter. We learned how to prepare before we go out in the winter as well as what to do if we find ourselves stuck in a snowstorm like the characters in our book. Your child should be able to tell you the 3 Ws you should tell someone before you head out in the winter as well as what the letters in STOP stand for. Again, if they can successfully do this please let me know.
This week you will find a Permission slip attached to your child’s homework packet. This permission slip is for our field trip to the Science Expo in Incline on Tuesday, March 13th. Please complete and return your child’s permission slip as soon as possible. If you are able to help chaperone this field trip please fill out the bottom of the form with your name and the number of students you can transport in your car.
Finally, over the next two weeks we will begin our end of trimester assessments to check in on our progress. Please do your best to ensure your child is at school during this time so that I can adequately assess their skills at this point in the year and provide you with the most accurate data possible on their report card next month. Please let me know if you have any questions.
