With only three weeks left until the winter break we will be busy bees for the next few weeks in M29. We will spend the next few weeks finishing our study of the Washo Indian tribe. So far we have mapped the Washo and neighboring Indian territories, discussed the definition of the word "native", and learned all about basket making which was very important to the Washo Indians. On our field trip the the Gatekeepers Museum last week we got to see some of their beautiful baskets and learn how the Washo people used them. Check out our photo gallery to see pictures from our trip. In the next few weeks we will be studying their seal, jobs, food, and clothing. We will conclude our study with an informative writing piece on the Washo tribe.
Your child should have come home with their first report card of the year on Friday. I hope by now you have had a chance to view your child's report. As the letter that came home with the report card explained 1s and 2s are completely normal at this time of year. We are now grading your child based off of the end of year expectations instead of where they should be at this point in the year. This first report is intended to help you see how they are progressing towards those end of year goals. It is not expected for your child to have mastered or met all of the third grade content in such a short amount of time. Please let me know if you have any questions about your child's progress. Also, please return the report card envelope to school so that it can be reused for the next report.
Have a great week!
