In math we have been working on our measurement and geometry skills. We began last week reviewing how to use different measurement tools and ended our week discussing the many different polygons. Not sure what a polygon is? Ask your child, they should be able to tell you what a polygon is and isn't. This week we will be connecting the two concepts together as we begin finding the perimeter and area of polygons.
You should have received a yellow permission slip in your child's Friday folder. This is for a trip we will be taking the first week back from winter break. We will be going to Truckee High to watch Urban Dance Jazz Company perform. This is an Arts for the Schools performance I think the students will enjoy. Please return your child's permission slip as soon as you are able. If you are able to help chaperone please let me know ASAP so that I can secure enough drivers before we go to break.
Finally, On Thursday, December 21st we will be having a holiday party and book exchange. Each child should bring a wrapped book to school by next Wednesday the 20th. It can be a new book or a gently used book from home that your child would like to give to a classmate. The book should come to school wrapped with a tag that reads To: My friend From: Your child. Please don't put a specific student's name on your book as the students will be taking turns selecting a book they would like to unwrap. Also, please make sure the book you send is age appropriate and gender neutral if possible. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great Week!
