The spring also marks state testing season. Our class is scheduled to test on five separate days in May to complete the testing. We are scheduled to test on May 15th, May 22nd, May 23rd, May 30th, and June 1st. Please do your best to ensure your child will be present on those dates so that they can complete their testing. If your child does miss a testing date they will be able to make it up but will have to miss classroom instruction to do so. It is always best if they take it while the rest of the class is taking it.
We have been continuing our study of fractions in math and have started our adaptations final project. The students are selecting an animal or plant they feel has the best adaptations for survival. They will be writing an opinion piece to support their choice and building a diorama to aid in their oral presentation at the end of the week. Ask your child what animal they have selected and why they chose that animal. I am hoping to have the students share their dioramas with you through class dojo before we head to spring break.
Finally, we had some April Fools Day fun today (or at least I did) since we weren't at school yesterday. We took a fake spelling pretest today with the following challenging words:
If you look at the first letter of every word it spells April Fools Ha! During the test they kept saying "why are these words so hard?" To view the video of them discovering they've been tricked click here.. I stopped recording a little to early for you to see but we did have a good laugh afterwards.
Have a great Week!
