Last Week we began reading our first novel of the year titled The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes. It's a great beginning of the year book that helps us discuss how to treat others. While we read through the book we are keeping a notebook of what is happening in the story. We are tracking characters as well as new vocabulary as we go. This week we learned two knew words: contrary and incredulously. I challenged the students to go home and tell someone at home one of the new words they learned and it's definition. If your child does this please let me know so that I can recognize them in class for being an active listener.
Finally, next week is a busy week for us. Tuesday is Back to School Night for grades 3-5 from 5:30-7:00. Wednesday is a minimum day and all students will be released at 12:50. Please make sure your child knows their after school plans. Thursday is our first field trip of the year to Sand Harbor. We are still missing a few permission slips so please make sure to get those returned to school as soon as possible. Thank you to all of you who have volunteered to drive, we officially have enough drivers to transport all students. Thank you for helping make this trip possible! As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great weekend!
