Wow! Where did September go!! Hopefully now that things are settling down from the beginning of the school year I'll be able to post more often to keep you all updated on what we have been working on in class. So far we have been very busy in our classroom learning all about habitats. We recently finished studying the ocean and have moved on to the forest in preparation for our field trip later this month. While learning about the ocean we learned about animal classifications, the 5 oceans of the world, The Ocean Zones, and we learned all about crabs. The students really love learning about animals so with each habitat we will be focusing on one or more animals from that habitat. Your child should be able to tell you about mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, invertebrates, and plants by now. Ask them what an invertebrate is and they just might stun you! :) Below are some pictures of the work we did while studying the ocean.
It has been a great first week of school!! We spent most of the week getting to know each other and spent A LOT of time learning and practicing our classroom rules and procedures. Spending lots of time at the beginning of the year on these simple things paves the way for a smooth year. It's really important that the kiddos really know what is expected of them in the classroom so they can be successful and meet those expectations. If you haven't signed up for Class Dojo please sign up as soon as you can. Class Dojo really helps us stay connected and on top of your child's behavior. When your child knows you are checking Class Dojo they know you care about how they behave at school and then they care about how the behave at school and are much more successful at school. I sent out an e-mail invitation to all parents last week. If you did not receive your e-mail please let me know so I can check that I have your correct e-mail address. Once you are signed up you will receive a weekly e-mail detailing your child's behavior for the week. You can also send me messages through the app/site. I will be sending out whole class reminders using it so make sure you sign up with an e-mail that you regularly check.. I am really looking forward to working with all of you and your students this year! Here's to a great year!!
